Membership is open to Professional Pension Trustees who carry on the business of being a trustee of a UK Defined Benefit, Hybrid or DC pension scheme, including Master Trusts. Applicants may be admitted as members if they can be considered independent of the scheme sponsor.
In accordance with proposals supported by the Pensions Regulator to ensure high standards across the sector, the Association’s Council introduced in 2020 an Accreditation Scheme for members and those presently not members who wish to comply with the scheme.
Full accreditation as an APPT professional pension trustee (AMAPPT) will be confirmed on completion of the requirements for accreditation including successful success in CPT Units 1 and 2, a clear DBS check, two references and successful completion of TPR Toolkit modules plus a number of declarations detailed on the application form.
Annual membership fees, which also include the events, briefings and representational role provided by the Association, are due by 1 July each year. The fee for membership and accreditation is £485 in this first year (currently £310pa thereafter).
Entry to the Association is permitted during the year and a proportionate charge will apply. If you do join mid-year you will be advised of the amount payable after your application to join has been approved by the Association’s Council.
You will be expected to comply with the Association’s CPD Rules. The Rules and forms will be available shortly in the Members section of this website under ‘Compliance’.
Please download our APPT Accreditation application form if you feel you have the necessary qualifications and experience to become a member of the Association.
A guidance document is also available on the website that details the qualifications and experience required to be a member.
