Welcome to the website of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (APPT).

Our principal objective is to act as the representative body for trustees of UK occupational pension schemes who fall within The Pension Regulator’s (TPR) description of a professional trustee. In 2020, we launched our new APPT Accreditation Scheme for professional trustees – more details on our How to Join page – an initiative supported by TPR to reinforce high standards amongst professional trustees. A list of accredited members can be found on our ‘Find our Members‘ page.
We provide our members with the opportunity to meet and discuss topical issues in informal settings through successful dinners often hosted by businesses keen to engage with professional trustees. We also arrange events where leading professionals from the world of pensions can update members on current developments and with whom trustees can share their experiences and concerns.
Please see our Events page for more information of forthcoming events arranged by APPT – if you are a member, further details will be available on our members’ only section of this website. We organise regular Webinars to allow members to be kept updated and to secure CPD opportunities.
On behalf of members, our Council reviews consultation documents from bodies such as the Department for Work & Pensions and The Pensions Regulator and invites comments from members before responding on behalf of the APPT as a whole. Details of our recent responses can be found on the Consultation Responses page.
Our Members are also actively working to help make sure schemes and their members avoid the pitfalls of pension scams and we fully support the PSIG code of practice available here
We also aim to have a high profile within the pensions industry. Corporate entities and trustee boards increasingly turn to our members when considering the appointment of a professional trustee.
